Care Instructions
First thing, wood is an organic material and it will move and crack over the years while the wood dries. Everything that we sell has been painted and sealed to keep that to a minimum, but I can guarantee that your piece will crack over time.
We do everything possible to reduce the opportunity for cracks, from using all exterior paint and sealing with clear coats, to making relief cuts deep into the wood
To keep cracking to a minimum, you'll want to use a UV-protecting wood sealer at least once a year (more is better). Helmsman spar urethane is the best. The more often you apply, the better.
Keep these outside! If you bring a carving inside too quickly, the lack of moisture will dry it out super fast and it will crack very badly. If you really want to bring it inside, coat it heavily with polyurethane all over. That will keep the moisture inside as best as it can
If your piece cracks more than you like, you can use Gorilla Glue or any kind of wood-filler to fix the cracks and then paint over it.
